Assessing soil quality for rehabilitation of salt-affected agroecosystem: A comprehensive review

چکیده

One billion hectares of land worldwide is affected by several kinds salinity and associated problems. The soil quality (SQ) in salt-affected (SAS) impaired because the presence excess electrolytes, disproportionate Na Ca solution exchange phase, rhythmic changes hydrological cycle, decreasing organic matter, poor vegetative cover, low biological activity, crop residue return. Sodic saline–sodic soils have potential to provide alkaline reactions physical constraints regulate attributes affecting SQ. Because high spatial variability rapid temporal changes, selection simple, robust, cost, high-throughput master indicators for assessing SQ very essential monitoring aggradation or degradation SAS. Therefore, screening developing a minimum dataset assessment SAS an important issue sustainable management these agro-ecologies. We captured from ecosystems different countries discussed problems parameterization Improved optimum functioning needed confirming agricultural productivity food security around globe. This review describes causes drivers sodification/salinization mechanism-oriented rehabilitation options such as application mineral gypsum, flue-gas–desulfurized elemental S, acidified biochar, polymer, salt tolerance mechanisms, other agro-techniques improving Based on assessment, suite site-specific practices are advocated greening prosperity.

The Effect of reclamation of salt affected lands to Cropland on soil quality indicators

In this study the effects of land use change from salt affected land to cropland on soil quality indicators were studied in Chahafzal region, Yazd province, central Iran. Composite soil samples from 0-30 and 30-60 cm depths of saline and cultivated land were taken. Soil particle size distribution, calcium carbonate, Available water capacity (AWC), Electrical conductivity (ECe), Soil reaction (p...

Response of Wheat to Soil Amendments with Poor Quality Irrigation Water in Salt Affected Soil

The experiment was conducted on farmer’s field at District Lakki Marwat (NWFP) during Rabi (spring) 2007-08, in order to study the response of wheat to different soil treatments irrigated with poor quality irrigation water. The treatments including control, tillage, gypsum and sulphuric acid were applied before sowing of the wheat crop. The treatments were arranged in a randomized complete bloc...

Cardiac rehabilitation: a comprehensive review

Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) is a commonly used treatment for men and women with cardiovascular disease. To date, no single study has conclusively demonstrated a comprehensive benefit of CR. Numerous individual studies, however, have demonstrated beneficial effects such as improved risk-factor profile, slower disease progression, decreased morbidity, and decreased mortality. This paper will revi...

An Indicator Framework for Assessing Agroecosystem Resilience

Taking departure in the theory of resilience in social-ecological systems, we present an analysis and discussion of how resilience theory can be applied to agroecosystems. Building on the premise that agroecosystems are too complex for resilience to be measured in any precise manner, we delineate behavior-based indicators of resilience within agroecosystems. Based on a review of relevant litera...
